Aluminium wheels  are an integral part of many vehicles. They not only add to the aesthetic value of the vehicle, but also play a key role in the car's performance. What determines the price of aluminium wheels and why are they so appreciated among drivers?

Basic information about aluminum wheels

Aluminium wheels  are made of aluminium alloys. Their main advantage is low weight, which translates into reduced fuel consumption and better vehicle performance. Their lightness makes the car respond better to changes in traction and handling. The leading feature forged wheels have is also their exceptional durability. In our projects, we use only the highest quality materials, so you can be sure that you will receive a product that will meet your expectations.

Wheels made of aluminum offer an extraordinary variety of designs, styles and finishes. This gives you the opportunity to customize the appearance to individual preferences, ensuring that aesthetics go hand in hand with performance.

Type and price of aluminum wheels

Aluminium wheels  can also be sorted by production technology. The price of aluminum wheels depends on the chosen method of production. The most popular production methods include:

  • Cast aluminum wheels – the process involves melting aluminum and casting it in a mold to obtain the desired shape of the wheel. They are relatively cheap to produce, which is why they are often used in mass-produced vehicles.

  • Forged aluminium wheels – the aluminum block is dynamically pressed, i.e. forged, and then mechanically processed on a CNC machine, which gives much greater strength and precision. Forged wheels are more expensive than cast ones, but offer higher quality and durability.

  • Modular aluminum wheels – wheels consisting of several elements, such as drums and rims, which are joined together. The production process is more complicated and time-consuming than in the case of cast rims or one-piece forged wheels.

  • Flowformed wheels – this technology involves stretching the cast prefabricated element on a rotating drum thanks to thermal and plastic treatment.

  • Rotary Forging – wheels made using this technology offer balanced properties of strength and lightness. The production process combines mechanical processing and rotation during forming.

  • Spun aluminium wheels – they are created by rotating a cylindrical piece of aluminum around an axis until it reaches the desired shape. This is a relatively new technology that is mainly used in small-sized wheels.

Forged and flowform wheels – type of aluminum and production technology

Turismo guarantees highest product's quality, which is why our offer includes wheels made using flowform technology and forged. How does forged wheels differ from flowforming wheels?

Forged wheels are characterized by their exceptional durabilityresulting from the production process. The manufacturing process begins with a prefabricated element, which is subjected to a series of heat treatments and material thickening processes.

Heat treatment causes initial plasticization of the material, which is then compressed. This allows you to remove dams (air bubbles in the metal structure) that may have appeared in the aluminum during casting of the prefabricated element. The thickened material becomes much more durable and at the same time lighter compared to typical cast wheels.

Wheels manufactured using forged technology are precisely machined using advanced CNC machines that operate in three and five axes. Thanks to this, we achieve not only exceptional durability, but also accuracy and high quality of finishing.

Our offer also includes wheels manufactured using flowforming technology. This process involves thermal stretching of a previously cast prefabricated element using a special drum rotating around its own axis.

The advantages of this solution include increased material stiffness, lower weight compared to low-pressure cast wheels and lower production costs compared to forged wheels. Flowforming technology is only used in mass production. Minimum production quantities often amount to several hundred pieces of wheels.

We use A356.0 aluminum to produce hardened castings, and our factory meets the standards ISO, which are regularly verified by TUV Austria. This translates into the highest quality and reliability of our products.

Wheel design and its price

Price of aluminum wheels is also depended on factors related to technical and aesthetic aspects. One of the factors is also the design and method of making the wheel.

Monoblock wheels

Monoblocks, as they are also called, are the most popular type of wheels. As the name suggests, they are made in one piece of aluminum. This has a direct impact on the lower price compared to wheels composed of a larger number of parts.

Two- and three-piece wheels

They consist of min. two main parts: the drum and the rotor. This solution allows the use of a different material in these parts of the wheel, e.g. carbon fiber. This translates into greater personalization possibilities, a more attractive appearance and, as a result, a higher price.

The most advanced rims in our offer are three-piece wheels. They consist of three parts: drum, rotor and lip. The design allows for even more advanced designs and personalization of wheels. They are more expensive due to the selection of high-quality components.

Price differences result from the difficulties and costs associated with the production process and the materials used. Two- and three-piece wheels are usually more expensive due to the need to use components with specific parameters.

Higher quality materials and a more complicated production process also affect the price. Monoblock wheels are usually cheaper while still offering good performance and an attractive design for the vast majority of drivers. The final choice depends on the client's needs, budget and preferences.

Diameter and width

Another parameter influencing the price of aluminum wheels is their diameter and width. Wheels with larger diameters and widths are usually more expensive because they require more material and processing time. However, it should be remembered that the choice of wheel size should be adapted not only to the driver's preferences, but above all to the specific car. Large wheels can improve the appearance of the vehicle, but performance and driving comfort cannot be forgotten.

Wheel finish

More advanced and aesthetic finishes also affect the price of the wheels. The finish used has an important role in the final effect of the project.

We offer various types of wheel finishes eg.:

  • polished,
  • high-gloss varnished,
  • brushed,
  • chromed.

Turismo is a guarantee of quality

Aluminium wheels  constitute an important element not only visual, but also technical of each vehicle. Their choice depends on the user's individual preferences, budget and needs. Factors influencing the price may result from the technology in which the wheel is made and the number of wheel components. The diameter, width and even finish of the rims are also important.

Wheels offered by Turismo, can also boast an international certificate ISO9001, which ensures the highest quality of completed projects. It allows for strict control of the wheel creation process, from detailed verification of suppliers, their components and prefabricated elements, to quality control taking place in Poland. When ordering our wheels, you can be sure that you will receive top quality product that will fully meet your expectations!
